What is Restylane®?

Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases that extend from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth) and lips. It is composed of non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid, which is a substance found naturally in the human body.

I saw Dr Picerno for my lip filler and Botox!!! She was amazing!! She helped keep me calm the entire time, as I was a little nervous! And it honestly wasn’t as bad as I was thinking it would be! She also corrected my upper lip where one side was higher than the other from a previous place I went! now it’s completely even! The whole staff was great!!

How does Restylane work?

Restylane maintains its shape using the body’s own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is hydrophilic or “water loving.” As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide long-lasting results. Most injectables require an office visit of 20-30 minutes, and depending on the injection site, a dental block of Novocain may be used. You can expect a mild degree of swelling for the first 24 hours after the procedure and occasionally some bruising may occur. In general, fillers can be placed with no downtime. Depending on the location of where it is placed, the results should last 6-12 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Restylane last for years?

Restylane results can last up to three years, but it is more common to see results that last about one year.

Can you drink after Restylane?

It is generally recommended to avoid drinking alcohol for about 24 hours after your Restylane injections.

Can you mix Juvederm and Restylane?

It is possible to receive both Juvederm and Restylane injections during the same treatment session. Your injector will make a recommendation based on your goal results.

Does Restylane settle?

Restylane typically settles within about one to three days, meaning that the product will gradually bond to the sub-dermal layers of the skin and swelling will resolve.

Does Restylane work immediately?

Most patients will see immediate results with Restylane. Final results, with swelling resolved, can be seen about a week after the procedure.
