Procedures You Can Combine with a Facelift
If you are familiar with cosmetic procedures, you may have heard of one in particular called a facelift. A facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure to lift sagging facial tissues to restore a naturally youthful facial appearance. During treatment, your plastic surgeon will remove excess, lax skin smooth deep folds, and lift and tighten deep facial tissues for a refreshed look. This procedure can also address jowls and fatty tissue on the upper part of the neck.
At FacesFirst Cosmetic Surgery, we offer a variety of different facelift procedures including a mini lift, plasma lift, deep plane facelift, mid-face cheek lift, neck lift, and more. We pride ourselves on working with each of our patients and their priorities to create a personalized plan that works best for them over time.
As we age, our skin loses collagen and elastin, which can result in signs of aging such as lax skin, lines and wrinkles, and a hollow appearance. As a standard rule for our facelift procedures, our surgeons take into consideration the 3Ds of aging, which include changes in dermal (skin) appearance, deflation (volume loss), and descent (laxity).
Many aesthetic procedures can be combined with a facelift to further enhance results. Read on to learn more about these procedures and how they can benefit your surgical outcomes.
Procedures to Combine with a Facelift
At FacesFirst, we offer an array of procedures that can successfully be combined with facelift surgery for outstanding results.
Surgical
Eyelid Rejuvenation
Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is designed to reduce sagging skin, puffiness, or folds and wrinkles in the eyelid. Patients can choose to have upper or lower blepharoplasty. Some may require both.
Upper blepharoplasty addresses lax skin and muscle that is hanging low on the upper eyelids. This excess skin can cause many patients to appear tired or unhappy. In some cases, it can even obscure their upper lashes or their line of vision.
Lower blepharoplasty addresses laxity and volume changes to the lower eyelid. This procedure most commonly addresses puffiness or “bags” beneath the eyes that can make an individual appear much older than they are.
Brow Lift
A brow lift rejuvenates the overall appearance of the face above the eyes. At FacesFirst, we perform an endoscopic brow lift to address drooping brows. There are several ways to perform a brow lift procedure, with endoscopic being the most common. During the procedure, an endoscope is used to assist the surgeon in the removal of excess lax skin and repositioning underlying tissues and muscles for a smooth, more youthful contour.
Micro Fat Transfer
Micro fat transfer is a procedure in which small amounts of fat are removed from one area of the body and injected into another. It is a great option for refining small areas on the face such as around the eyes to combat dark circles/hollows around the eyes. Furthermore, micro fat transfer can be used to fill out hollow cheeks, smooth nasolabial folds, and more to address the entire face for overall facial rejuvenation.
Non-surgical
Injectables
Injectables are a popular non-surgical pairing with facelift surgery. Dermal fillers can restore lost facial volume and enhance contours, while neuromodulators such as Botox can smooth lines and wrinkles. Injectable treatments are non-surgical and require little to no downtime.
Microneedling
Microneedling is a fantastic non-surgical option for facial rejuvenation. During treatment, a microneedling device will be used. It is equipped with many small needles, which will create mico-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate collagen production for firmer, smoother, brighter skin. Microneedling can enhance and extend your results following a facelift.
Laser Skin Rejuvenation
Refreshed, glowing skin pairs well with a facelift procedure. Laser skin rejuvenation smooths wrinkles, thickens the skin, and eliminates brown spots for youthful, evenly-toned skin. Generally, laser skin rejuvenation is a great option for the winter months, as you must avoid the sun as much as possible for optimal results. At FacesFirst, we offer an array of laser treatments, including:
- DioLite™ for treating vascular lesions, pigmented lesions, or sun damage.
- IPL photo rejuvenation for targeting uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, and other signs of aging.
- Harmony XL PRO for uneven skin texture, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, and more.
